Munchies from My Past – Entenmann’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

Written by:

As a youngster growing up in NYC, every Deli or supermarket I walked into was sure to have one item no matter what, Entenmann’s. Whether it was their delicious devil food cake, donuts, éclairs or seasonal cupcakes, you knew you couldn’t go wrong. Entenmann’s chocolate chip cookies, however, will always remain as one of the best munchies ever created.

Considered more of a premium snack, especially when compared to cheaper cookie alternatives or single serve pies you could find at the deli, Entenmann’s chocolate chip cookies NEVER disappointed. They were always soft, chewy, and a perfect balance of delicious cookie, and chocolate chip. They could be devoured in one or two bites and each bite seemed to taste better than the last.

The decision to have one always turned into 2 and 2 turned into 5 and that pretty much led to a finished box, especially if I had to fight my brother from eating them. Although these cookies were just about perfect as they were, an entire new world was opened once someone recommended microwaving them. A few seconds in the micro and now the cookies were delicious, hot and the chocolate chips melty, it was heaven.

A glass of milk was always on hand to enjoy with these cookies and they were delicious regardless of what time of day I was eating them. Although they are still available today, it is the memory of those special times where my mom would let us get a box (knowing full well that they wouldn’t last particularly long), that I will never forget. Today’s version does look a bit bigger, perhaps we will re-review them sometime down the line.
