At Munchies HQ we understand that salt can make or break a snack, so when we opened our bag of Rold Gold Lightly Salted Tiny Twist Pretzels we were concerned that the less salt would equal less tasty. Thankfully we were wrong.

Currently only available in the northeast US, Rold Gold Lightly Salted Tiny Twist Pretzels have “50% less sodium then  the “leading mini twisted pretzel.” We happened to have the standard tiny twists  on hand (we also reviewed the regular Rold Gold Thins and checked those) and although we aren’t sure if they are the leading mini twisted pretzel but regardless the lightly salted version had half the sodium.

In terms of look and feel, Lightly Salted Rold Gold Tiny Twist pretzels seem the same overall. The bag is full of tiny pretzels that are nicely shaped and not too thin. When we opened the bag we got the familiar bready smell we have come to love.

We love salt here at munchies but were really surprised to find that we enjoyed these low sodium pretzels quite a bit. Some of the pretzels had almost no salt taste but for the most part we them to be evenly flavored. One of my co-testers said they taste like a real, fresh unsalted soft pretzel and it was actually the best way to describe them. They are enjoyable and almost sweet at times.

While they didn’t blow us away (its honestly difficult differentiate plain pretzels and find one that does), if you are looking for  a pretzel that is not only delicious but actually healthier for you, then these are worth it.

Although I personally don’t consider the healthy aspect of a snack when I buy them, I would likely buy these over the standard which can sometimes feel too salty.  Rold Gold Lightly Salted Tiny Twist Pretzels are best described as tiny pretzels with “just enough salt.” Of course if you enjoy some seasoning on your pretzel could try Snyder’s Honey Mustard Pretzels or Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Flipz.
