The MunchiesBlog webmaster was strolling through a London airport when he came upon these Caffe Nero chips. Custom made for the café, Thick cut and potato-y, they are a far cry from their more flavorful siblings.

The Caffe Nero chips come in very attractive bags that reflect the high-quality of the Café they are custom made for. According to the bag, the chips come in several flavors, and the Sea Salt ones are the most basic. On the bag it also states that the chips are handmade and they are very thick. The Sea Salt flavor was pretty lacking and since the chips themselves were so thick and starchy, it made them taste quite bland.

Throw in some vinegar and the result is very different. Typically we’ve found handmade chips to turn out in a thinner, more kettle cooked style, so these were a nice change. The chips weren’t overly greasy and the chips had a sweet finish. They could be tasty with a sandwich, but the heavy potato flavor may be overpowering.

I think the best combination for these chips would be some sour cream and onion dip. With a little extra kick these chips go from thick and bland to super tasty. They are also a perfect chip for those who like it heavy on the dip since their thickness makes them much less prone to cracks and crumbs.
