When one thinks of sweet potatoes and beets, I think the assumption would be a side order at dinner, not a munchable snack that comes in a bag. Terra Chips, however, thinks otherwise, but does this combination work?
Terra chips are known for their premium price, which luckily comes with premium tasting chips. Sweets and Beets is one special mix out of a few that Terra created because people love their Sweet Potato chips. In this case they tried to mix something sweet with an opposing flavor, a beet.
Sweet Potato Chips Vs. Beet Chips
The Sweet Potato Chips have a very strong flavor with a decent crunch. They are sweet and tasty and are worth creating their own line behind (although this reviewer tends to prefer the ruby taro in the original mix bag). The one downside is that some have a burnt flavor, but there were few such chips in our bag.
The Beet Chips offer a sour contrast to their sweet potato partner. They taste, well, like a beet. Although I assume most people wouldn’t think of beets as a chip, they are actually quite tasty.
Together the pair offer a very good, seemingly healthy, snack. The chips were not greasy (again appealing to those who want a healthier snack) and although they are expensive, the bag felt full. They also have a good crunch thanks to their crinkle cut (ala Ruffles) style.
Although I wasn’t personally the biggest fan of the chips, a few lucky friends and webmaster Roy loved them and for that reason we give them a worth a munch grade.

Though the bags tend to fall short on the beet ratio, our preffered flavour.
You should also mention that for some reason, a lot of these “health chips” companies tend to grind the veggies to a powder, and then make chips shapes that are made of that powder – A very unnecessary process that takes the feeling of freshness out and probably involves some sort of food adhesive.
These chips do not and for that reason deserve a high score.
Try the Mediterranean style – I could eat the whole bag at once they are so tasty!
